Hi! I'm a woman from Sweden and I just found you're blog, but I've been a big fan of your illustrations since I found you're portfolio on the Art dept. webpage. You're a big inspiration to me! I wonder when you decided to be an illustrator, and how you've worked your way up.

I knew I wanted to be an illustrator ever since I was a little girl and I knew I would go to art school in NYC. There was no question! After I graduated from Parsons, I would do drawings for anyone who wanted them for free, and then over time publications started to give me assignments and pay me for my work.
There's no direct path to becoming an illustrator, but if you love it and feel like you HAVE TO do it, you can find a way. Do you illustrate? Do you have a blog? Please send it my way!
