1993

These pictures were taken in a photo booth at Little Rickie's on First Ave in the East Village (now a waffle shop). Note the Elvis tapestry.

Tonight I started to clean out my bookshelves (big mistake, I should have left it alone) and look what I found tucked in with my high school diploma:

This letter changed my life! And look who it's signed by! Thank you, Tim Gunn. You made it work (for me).

Thinking ahead

It hit me today that I should make plans for July 4th weekend NOW so I hurriedly booked a room at the adorable Woodstock Millstream Inn for me and Joe! I am very excited for a summer getaway in the country.

Questions, brought to you by IKEA:

Tall red rack: Perfect addition? Or too crowded?

Flowery rug: Cute or ugly?

Things that are in my belly:

My brother Chris carried this very special cake from Vienna to Dublin to New York City to Massapequa, Long Island for our Mama, who then shared it with me (after she brought it back to New York City).

In turn, I shared these outrageously delicious berries with my Mama.

Dude. Look at those freaking berries.

The Memorial (and "Where's Gloria")

Saturday was a great day because my family was all together.

I hope we all can get together more often.

First Place Jobei!

The racecar-driving, first place trophy-holder on the left is my friend John, better known to me as Jobei, a.k.a. the impending C.E.O. of Alli Arnold Inc. I am proud of my multi-talented future business partner!

Happy Memorial Day

I like Memorial Day and I like cake.

While I was on Long Island having a terrific time with my family for Grandpa's memorial, Nino was at the downstairs neighbors' apartment with his little neighbor friend, Jack.

Out of Many: Alli

Today I became President of Alli Arnold Illustration, Inc.

Mermaids need sleep, too.

Pictures from the weekend

This marquee made me giddy on the way to get my ticket Friday morning.

Gramercy Park in the day time.

I found myself in the same exact spot later that night!

Sidse gave me a belated birthday present this Saturday night. Any guesses as to what it could be?

So what?

So what if my favorite rock dude put on a little weight? I'm still gonna be front row center at the Monster Magnet show tonight.

Paris, August 2007

Just a little lunch at a cafe...Man, I want to go back soon. And eat.

Just Dance! Lady Gaga says so.

You can look...

...but DO NOT TOUCH Yogi's belly. I know, it's so unfair.

'Tis the season

This pretty picture came from:
http://www.leightonphotoart.co.uk/gallery/venice/Peonies

The apartment next to mine is empty and available for rent, so Nino and I went in to sneak a peek. OMG! It's got a crappy view, a crappy kitchen (with a tiny fridge!), a crappy closet, and a crappy bathroom! It makes me want to hug my apartment. I love you, little apartment.

Signs of Summer

Textures

Fake leopard fur, real doggie fur, yellow carpet, varnished wood, quilted silk

Say it loud and proud (or just type it large and yellow)

I have lost 18.4 lbs. That's right.

Purple flowers all over New York

E.30th St., NYC Wisteria

Walden, NY Lilacs

Amityville, NY Purple Tree (note the robin in the grass)

The lilacs are my favorite.

Unexpected

Today Joe and I needed to escape the rain so we ducked into this little church on E.29th Street and were just in time for lovely a pipe organ concert. I was surprised, too.

Farewell, Kenneth Paul Block

“More than any single designer, he gave New York fashion its sophistication,” the designer Isaac Mizrahi said in Susan Mulcahy’s 2008 book, “Drawing Fashion: The Art of Kenneth Paul Block”. “Because he drew Babe Paley and Jackie Kennedy a certain way, they became what he had envisioned.”

“From early childhood,” Block said, “I wanted to draw glamorous women in beautiful clothes.”
