He's not a Hun.

Tomorrow I am starting lessons with Attila, AKA "The God of Driving". 2010 is looking like the year of freedom for me.

At the car wash.

The water was freezing right on the window.

I think Joe is cute.

I fell on the ice yesterday. My knee hurts. Happy first day of winter- let the countdown to summer begin.

Maybe I will bake a cake later.

Maybe that will cheer me.

If that won't, this picture usually helps:

Have a Garish, Tacky Christmas...

On Sunday night Joe, Shawna and I went to the Crab Shanty on City Island to celebrate my birthday with garlic bread, clam chowder, broiled seafood, and one Mai Tai. It was perfect. Before we headed back to Manhattan, Joe said he wanted to take us somewhere special in the Bronx. He said it was going to be a surprise...

Click on the picture to see it larger.

Go ahead, click on it. You don't want to miss anything.

Around the corner...

This looks like my dream hair-do and dream prom dress and dream date from 1987!

Is that Anna Nicole Smith stumbling out of Cinderella's crystal coach?

Holy.

People put dollar bills through the chain link fence and the family donates the money to the church.

Is that Marilyn Monroe? And there's Diana Ross behind her, just below the baby Jesus.

*Oh, you should know that all of these mannequins are MOVING: heads turning, torsos spinning, Rockettes kicking...and there's music blaring, too.

This is someone's house. People live here. You could see into the front door and see the family puttering around and watching TV.

Here's an article I found about this treasure:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/26/nyregion/26bigcity.html

But that really doesn't answer MY questions.

But I do appreciate festive things and colored lights, and I got to spend my birthday with Shawna and Joe, and a good time was had by all.

Holiday card commissioned by Reiko and Mr. Pickles
*I don't think my blog readers are on her mailing list, so I am not ruining the holiday surprise!

Here is the revised final. More wintery!

*And here is a photo of my patrons.

As much as I hate winter, I make up for it in scarves, gloves, coats and Uggs. I want these for my birthday. Please.

Two hours of blood, sweat and pumpkin guts was worth it.

October is fun.

My apartment is coming together, thanks to the very nice things that people throw away on the Upper East Side.

I walked around SoHo last week to see things.

I saw this and liked it.

And I also got to see my friend Shelley and her new little boy, Will. Will kept eyeing my tomato soup. I wasn't sharin'.
