The reason.

This sweet dog is Maty, with her newest little kitten charge. This little kitten was found at eight weeks old, hissing at anyone who tried to help her. She was brought to Maty, who mothered her and taught her some manners, and now she's ready to be adopted by a forever home.

The book that I illustrated about darling Maty is going to be for sale on Amazon in a week! I will keep you posted.

*For some reason, Becky referred to these little treats as "Ships of Justice", and Kelly and I fell off our chairs.

My little black leather cross-body bag (that I bought at Barney's in 2006) is literally worn out and I need a new one. If a lump sum of money were to fall in my lap, I would spend $1,800.00 of it on this Chanel bag, because I know I would use it until it fell apart, too.

When Photography Works

I love illustration for expressing concepts and style (and a million other things), but I love photography for documenting moments in time. I love a photograph that can do what illustration cannot. This picture of CBGB's by Joseph O. Holmes captures a very important place that no longer exists, because what was a legendary rock club is now a men's clothing store with ridiculously priced clothes. It's kind of a shame, but I have to be careful to not become one of those people who talks about how great New York used to be.

*The first time I was at CBGB's I was 17 years old, I had just moved to New York City to go to Parsons, and I was pressed up against the stage watching as the lead singer from FOETUS reached out over the audience and grabbed my boyfriend Will's head. I was horrified and mesmerized. And I probably went back for more over 100 times.

So what if I would be 6'1" in these snakeskin print boots. They are $174 at Nordstrom. Here's my thinking: It's 45 days 'til my birthday. That's $3.86 I would have to put away every day. Seems reasonable.

I came across this illustration today and it made me LOL. I LOLove when that happens. In this illustration, Nino is very happily and busily baking brownies for his mama. Now that it's October, we are nesting.

New obsession

I took myself to the beach today and saw a cute little fellow (just like this dude) staring at me. When I leaned in to get a closer look, he quickly and nervously scurried back into a little hole in the sand. CHARMING.

I'm not an impulsive shopper, and I don't buy things I just "kinda" like, because that way I don't have to feel bad when I actually do spend money on something that I really love. With that said, take a look at my new lamp! It's a life-sized horse! And I'm not allergic to it! It's just what I have been looking for.
