Flowers by Leanne Shapton

So pretty. I'm going to paint pictures when I am in Florida.

Lbs.

Nino weighs about 15 lbs. It was a long, inactive winter for both of us. But by changing what I eat, since Christmas I have lost almost a whole Nino! To be continued...

Unexpected Surprise Deliciousness

Last week a series of very good decisions began with the decision to try Bread Pudding with Whiskey Butter Sauce from the St. Pete Farmer's Market. I didn't know I could have it so good, and that became the theme for the week.

My 2nd Published Illustration

Today, while doing some spring cleaning, I came across my 2nd published illustration ever, from Newsday, when I was 10 years old. (*I remember my first published illustration was color and Valentine's Day themed, and I was in first grade.)

I like how I couldn't resist doing the puzzle.

All aboard.

OMG, this dress.

Magic magic

If I am your Aunt Alli...

...I'm gonna make you draw with me.

Perks of Membership

On Friday (if it's not snowing, raining (or anything equally horrible, cold and wet) I am going to take myself to see the new German Expressionism exhibit at the MOMA.

So, ultimately, no, but definitely: YES.

Taking advantage of NYC

I am going to see this movie tomorrow. In addition, it will be considered a business expense.

Teenage Dream

There's a new teenage Alli Arnold happening, and she's wearing my blue sunglasses and my Marc by Marc Jacobs flats.

:(

...and this cold weather, couch time, take-out food, hours of TV, layers of clothes and a puffy coat is B.S.

Shoes and Surprises

Walking around downtown today (my first day back from Florida), I saw these shoes in a window and thought that I would love to have them for my next trip to Florida in May. They are $198, so I don't really see it happening. But who knows.

*This post is dedicated to Ralph, who couldn't have surprised me more when he commented on my shoe fetish that he learned about from reading my blog. This one's for you, Ralph! You are full of suprises and you look great in a kilt.

St. Pete gets 360 Days of Sun a Year

I took this picture from the patio of the Vinoy Hotel in Downtown St. Pete where I enjoyed a cocktail with my sister, Shirl.

This is my brother Brian's backyard at dusk.

The Gulf of Mexico is my favorite body of water IN THE WORLD.

But this body of water is pretty charming, too.

Now I am back in New York, where it's 35 degrees. I'm not very happy to call NYC home today.

Always a thrill

It's always a thrill to turn the page and see my own drawings in The New York Times!

This image came to me in a dream. But it's "too cute" for the PCC.

Haircut(e)

Today's the day that the groomer will try to chip the winter filth off of little Nino. I can't wait for him to not smell like FRITOS® anymore.

Shame

Shame on you, The Black Crowes, for making this album cover so derivative of The Band's album cover. And shame on me for only realizing this now.

From Apples to Pears

I can't get Honeycrisp apples anymore so I have switched over to pears. You have to wait a week before eating them but they are worth the wait.
