Now it can be told:

I will have a little illustration in this Thursday's (10/2) Style Section of The New York Times!

Just because

Just Jack!

A lesson

Situational irony is the disparity of intention and result: when the result of an action is contrary to the desired or expected effect.

For example:
Today at the gym, using my one free personal training session from Equinox and telling the trainer about how another trainer damaged my knees back in January, Equinox trainer mis-throws the medicine ball to me, jamming my fingers on my right hand.

!?*#@!!?

I'm just going to train myself.

sur·rep·ti·tious·ly

I sur·rep·ti·tious·ly took this picture of a french man in a striped shirt over my shoulder (back when I had blonde hair).

Ed Harris was added to my boyfriend list today. Oh, you can get on there too, Viggo.

In two weeks...

I am getting excited about our annual upstate trip with Kelly and my mama.

Pumpkin House

This is the inside/outside of what is known as The Pumpkin House in New York City. It is called that because the windows look like a jack-o-lantern face and when the sun sets on the building it gets an orange glow. The Pumpkin House is on the west side of Manhattan, overlooking the Hudson River, near 186th Street.

Pictures from The New York Times.

My stomach did a little flip when I saw these girls and remembered that my phone has a camera.

There is a "Babar" exhibit at the Morgan Library in NYC right now.

Now I remember why my haircut looked familiar.

One a day, at least (they're tiny).

Beige ultrasuede, beige chenille, beige fur, pink pillow.

Is this coat stupid or fantastic? Margot Tennenbaum-y? Would that be good or bad?

Fall arrives this weekend.

Which Batman is more your cup of tea?

I like 1960's Batman, Adam West:

And watch this adorable and rediculous 1960's BATGIRL theme:

It's going to get stuck in your (bat)head.

Guilty! He was guilty!

I am now done with jury duty for six years. I had to call the court clerk this evening to find out the verdict because they dismissed the alternates (myself included) when the "real" jury went to the deliberation room. Being an alternate is lame (unless you are needed), but I really enjoyed jury duty and seeing how our legal system works.

I am going to rent "Twelve Angry Men". I am still obsessed with crime, forensics, and courtroom drama, maybe now more than ever.

New York is the best city in the world.

Before 2pm today I:

-Joined a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at my local firehouse at the moment the second plane hit, seven years ago today
-Served as Alternate Juror No.1 on a Supreme Court Criminal Case
-Ate delicious papaya salad and green curry at Pongsgri Thai Restaurant
-Gawked at unusual seafood and strange produce for sale in Chinatown
-Wandered through "The Feast of San Gennaro" on Mulberry Street just as it was finishing setting up for 12 days of insanity

I mean, seriously.

God bless New York City.

Jury duty in downtown Manhattan is kind of cool because you feel like you are on the set of a Hollywood movie, or on an episode of Law & Order. I want to see Chris Noth hurry out of an elevator (sharp suit, perfect hair, hot coffee) and glance over at me with contempt (or could that be lust?). What you actually do see in a New York City Courthouse is a vast spectrum of diverse people looking bored and reading newspapers, and an assortment of goofy cops standing around.

The other cool thing about jury duty is it has got me back to doing REPORTAGE. It humbles me that when I am finally ready to draw again, it's there waiting for me.

On Tuesday morning I fell in the street and landed VERY HARD on my left knee. It hurt like a mutha, and continues to hurt like a mo-fo. I have been icing it, and taking Advil, and trying to stay off of it...Today it's numb and stiff at the same time. I'm not happy.

This is my friend Robin's new neighbor.

If I hadn't just identified and curbed my shopping addiction I might have gone on the hunt for booties like these. I will live without them. I'm gonna be ok.

"Strangeland"!

I just saw DEE SNIDER of Twisted Sister going into an apartment building on my street! Are we neighbors??? Now we have Massapequa AND E.31st Street in common!
